The polarization device is designed for polarized light observations. It consists of a polarizer and an analyzer: The polarizer is placed on the collector, and the analyzer goes in the slot above the revolving nosepiece. The polarizer is 90° rotatable. Depending on how the polarizer and analyzer are oriented toward each other, the intensity of the transmitted light may change. If they are mutually perpendicular to each other, you will achieve a total blackout effect.
Anisotropic geological, biological, and polymer samples are observed in polarized light.
