MAGUS DF4 Darkfield Condenser NА 1.3–1.26 oil

85096
The darkfield condenser enables the darkfield technique. The darkfield technique is used to obtain the image of unstained translucent samples that do not absorb light well and are invisible in the bright field.

In order to use the darkfield condenser, it should be paired with an objective with a smaller N.A. than the condenser. The aperture of the oil condenser is 1.3–1.26 and, therefore, the condenser is used with objectives of 20x and above.

The condenser requires the mandatory use of immersion oil between the condenser lens and the slide when working with both dry and immersion objectives. If there is no immersion oil on the condenser lens, the light rays will not reach the specimen.

The darkfield condenser is mounted in the arm instead of the Abbe condenser. The condenser has two centering screws for the proper alignment of the opaque stop in the optical path.

To obtain a contrast image of the sample using the darkfield technique, we recommend using a 0.17mm thick coverslip and a 1–1.2mm thick slide.
