MAGUS Bio VD350 Biological Inverted Digital Microscope
With a camera. Magnification: 100–400x. Trinocular head, plan achromatic lenses, 30 W halogen illuminator, phase contrast condenser, Köhler illumination

The microscope is designed for studying liquid precipitates, cell colonies, living cells, tissue cultures, and other stained and unstained specimens in lab glassware. The inverted design of the microscope allows for the use of Petri dishes, multi-well plates, vials, roller bottles, and flasks up to 55mm with a bottom thickness of 1.2mm. The microscope uses special objectives for working with such glassware. The tilting stand of the illuminator enables you to observe cell cultures in tall Petri dishes or in cylindrical flasks up to 165mm. The transmitted light microscopy technique (brightfield and phase contrast) is used for studying samples. The trinocular tube/camera port enables the simultaneous connection of a monitor and camera. The microscope can be used for education, laboratory work, and research purposes. Areas of application: medicine, biotechnology, biology, virology, agriculture, ecology, toxicology, pharmacology, and others.

Description

Digital camera
The MAGUS CDF30 digital camera is designed for the brightfield and darkfield microscopy technique. It offers a low noise level and high light sensitivity.
The camera is equipped with an 8.3MP sensor and delivers realistic images in 4K resolution (3840x2160pix) with the clearly visible fine details of samples and their structures. It is recommended to use the camera with 4x, 10x, and 20x objectives as well as with a stereomicroscope.
At maximum resolution, video is captured at 45fps. This is enough for classroom demonstrations, focus adjustment, recording fast-moving processes, and observing moving samples. At Full HD resolution (1920x1080pix), the rate increases to 70fps, and so the transitions between frames become softer and the camera can catch the slightest movement of the sample.
The camera is equipped with a USB 3.0 interface. The data transfer speed is 10 times faster than USB 2.0 cameras. The high-speed camera is recommended for professional laboratories, research, or university training.

Microscope head
Tube length – infinity (∞). When assembling the microscope, the user can rotate the eyepiece tubes 180° and adjust the eye relief to fit their height. There is a trinocular microscope head. The monitor is mounted in the vertical tube of the trinocular head and the digital camera – into the camera side port. The trinocular head has a 50:50 or 100:0 beam splitter, and 100:0/0:100 on the body.

Revolving nosepiece
The 5-objective revolving nosepiece is mounted on a stand under the stage. You can install an additional phase objective in a free slot of the revolving nosepiece to achieve extra magnification for the phase-contrast method.

Objectives
Infinity plan achromatic objectives with a long working distance for dishes with a bottom thickness of 1.2mm. There are 3 objectives for the brightfield technique and one objective for the phase contrast technique.

Focusing mechanism
Coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs are located at the base of the microscope on both sides. The user can place their hands on the table and take a relaxed pose while observing. The focusing adjustment is smooth and effortless. On the right, there is a coarse focusing lock knob for quick adjustments after changing the sample. On the left, there is a coarse tension adjustment ring for further adjustment.

Stage
There is a fixed stage with a mechanical attachment for moving the laboratory ware in two mutually perpendicular directions. The smooth and subtle movement of the object augments the accuracy of the study: No part of the specimen will be overlooked. The travel knob is located at the bottom, and so the user won’t strain the right wrist. The microscope set includes four dish holders for dishes of different sizes.

Condenser
Phase-contrast condenser with four positions. A free slot is used for brightfield microscopy. The other three slots with phase annuli plates are used for observing by way of objectives at magnifications of 10x, 20x, and 40x. The phase contrast rings can be centered. Fast and intuitive switching between the microscopy techniques saves time and simplifies the researcher’s work.

Light source
Halogen bulbs emit light with a color temperature that allows for comfortable work. The 30W bulb is bright enough to observe with all objectives that are used for brightfield and phase contrast microscopy techniques.

Köhler illumination
Setting up the Köhler illumination enhances the image quality of a specimen. With such illumination, you will achieve maximum resolution on each objective and even the illumination of the field of view with no darkening at the edges. The object of study is in sharp focus and the image artifacts are removed.

Accessories
There is a line of accessories designed specifically for this microscope. There are additional 20x and 40x phase objectives for studying 0.7µm and 0.4µm non-contrast objects. The eyepieces will extend the magnification range of the microscope. Additional eyepieces will help you use the full potential of an objective that is used more often. A digital camera that outputs the microscope image to a monitor, stores files, and software that takes real-time measurements of specimens. A calibration slide for measuring objects that can be combined with an eyepiece with a scale or the camera software.
