Description

Digital camera
The MAGUS CLM90 digital camera is designed for use in fluorescence and darkfield microscopy techniques.
The camera is equipped with a 7.1MP sensor and produces realistic images at a resolution of 3200x2200px. A monochrome sensor cannot classify the specimen by color, but it is 2–4 times more light-sensitive than a color sensor. The resulting image is brighter and has higher contrast, making the monochrome camera well-suited for low-light applications.
Video is recorded at 51.3fps or 133.8fps depending on its resolution. Videos are smooth, with soft and subtle transitions between frames. The movement of the sample is displayed in real time with no delays. The camera provides convenient work with moving objects and is suitable for conducting demonstrations in a classroom.
The camera is equipped with a USB 3.0 interface. The data transfer rate is 10 times faster than that of USB 2.0 cameras. The high-speed camera is recommended for professional laboratories, research, or university training.

Microscope head
Trinocular head with infinity-corrected optics. The user selects the most comfortable angle of inclination of the microscope head in the range of 0° to 35°. The digital camera is mounted on the vertical tube. The beam splits 0/100, 100/0, or 80/20.
The basic configuration includes 10x/25mm eyepieces with diopter adjustment and high eyepoint for working with glasses.

Revolving nosepiece
A motorized revolving nosepiece for 6 objectives is oriented away from the observer, toward the stand: The user sees the objective inserted into the optical path, and the space above the stage is free. An additional objective can also be installed in the free slot in order to achieve extra magnification.
Above the nosepiece is a slot with a plug for installing an analyzer or differential interference contrast sliders.

Plan semi-apochromatic fluorescence objectives
The objective lenses are made of fluorite, a mineral with a high degree of transparency over a wide wavelength spectrum, without autofluorescence and birefringence, with corrected secondary spectrum. The high numerical aperture enhances the objective's resolving power. The image in the eyepieces and through the digital camera is cleaner, has more contrast, and is brighter than with regular plan achromatic objectives.
Plan semi-apochromatic objectives have chromatic aberrations that are corrected for four colors, spherical aberration corrected for three colors, and field curvature corrected for 90% of the field of view diameter.
The 4x objective is designed to work with specimens with or without a coverslip. The 10x, 20x, 40x, and 100x objectives are used to observe specimens with a 0.17mm coverslip. The 100x objective supports oil immersion. All of the objectives are designed for the infinity-corrected tube length. The parfocal distance is 60mm.

Remote control of the revolving nosepiece
The front panel of the microscope has objective selection buttons. When you press a button, the revolving nosepiece automatically sets the selected objective to its operating position. A separate button is used to switch between the two most commonly used objectives.
On both sides of the body, next to the focusing knobs, there are buttons for rotating the nosepiece.
The condenser front lens position and illumination brightness are automatically adjusted to match the selected objective.
These features improve user comfort, speed, and efficiency.

Maintaining a comfortable brightness level in transmitted light when changing magnifications
The objectives of different magnifications transmit light with different levels of intensity, and so each time you change objectives, the brightness of the light must be adjusted. Switching from a higher to a lower magnification objective causes eye fatigue, as the image brightness in the eyepieces increases sharply. The MAGUS Lum D490, which is equipped with intelligent brightness control, solves this problem. The microscope remembers the brightness for each objective that the user has selected and automatically sets this brightness when turning the nosepiece. Intelligent control reduces the time required to adjust brightness. MAGUS Lum D490 increases user comfort and saves you time even when your work requires frequent magnification changes.

Focusing mechanism
The microscope features low-position coaxial coarse and fine focusing knobs. The researcher can place their hands on the table and take a comfortable position in front of the microscope.
The coarse focus lock knob helps you quickly adjust the microscope after changing the object of study. The knob is located on the left side of the microscope on the same axis as the focusing mechanism.
The ring on the right side adjusts the tension of the coarse focusing travel. The user adjusts the comfortable tension for work.

Stage
The stage plate is made of sapphire glass. The hardness, durability as well as scratch and chemical resistance of the sapphire glass is second only to diamond glass. It significantly outperforms the popular chemically tempered Gorilla Glass. According to the Mohs scale (a ten-point scale of relative hardness of mineral surfaces), Gorilla Glass scores 6.8, sapphire scores 9, and diamond has a score of 10.
The specimen holder is secured with two screws and can be easily removed during manual scanning.
The height-adjustable stage control knob ensures user comfort, allowing the user’s hand to rest on the desk for fatigue-free operation. The control knob also features tension adjustment, which allows you to select the optimal rotation tension for smooth and precise specimen movement.

Epi-fluorescence illuminator
There is a 6-position rotating turret inside the attachment. The turret allows the installation of up to 5 fluorescence filter cubes. Their configuration is determined by the user during assembly. Switching between filters is done by rotating the turret. One position of the turret corresponds to the brightfield observations.
The microscope kit includes 8 fluorescence filter cubes of different wavelength ranges: broadband blue (B), green (G), ultraviolet (UV), violet (V), and narrowband red (R) as well as narrowband filters for the DAPI, FITC, and TRITC fluorochromes and their spectral analogs.
Adjustable field and aperture diaphragms allow for setting up Köhler illumination.
The fluorescence excitation source is a mercury lamp. It features high brightness and a wide spectrum of wavelengths. The line spectrum with pronounced peaks provides for the effective excitation of a broad spectrum of fluorochromes. The mercury lamp is housed in an external lamphouse with a heat dissipation system, ensuring stable operating conditions for the light source.

Condenser
The condenser is height-adjustable and can be centered. Mounting type: dovetail.
The condenser ring adjusts the iris aperture diaphragm. The condenser body has white aperture markings and color markings for the objective magnification, and the ring has an indicator marker. To achieve optimal contrast, the aperture diaphragm is recommended to be set slightly below the numerical aperture of the objective in use.
The flip-down lens automatically moves out of the optical path for low-magnification objectives and back in for objectives above 10x. One less manual step – for fast and convenient operation.

Transmitted light source
The transmitted light illuminator uses a 3W LED. The color temperature does not change when you adjust the brightness. The LED lifetime is 50,000 hours.

Köhler illumination in transmitted light
The light source is located in the lamphouse at the rear of the microscope, and the light is directed to the collector using a mirror.
The image contrast is controlled by the condenser aperture diaphragm, while the illuminated field area is adjusted by the field diaphragm. The field aperture control is located on the right at the bottom of the body, next to the focus adjustment area. This simplifies the Köhler illumination setup.
Köhler illumination improves the image quality of the observed sample: It provides for the even illumination of the field of view, eliminates stray light, and allows the objective to reach its resolution limit.

Ergonomic design
Physical discomfort causes fatigue and reduces productivity. The ergonomic design of the microscope plays an important role in everyday scientific research.
MAGUS Lum D490 provides user comfort during operation.
The motorized revolving nosepiece and condenser reduce manual operations, and they speed up the workflow during frequent objective changes.
The adjustable head allows the user to select a comfortable viewing angle, thereby reducing neck and back strain.
Focusing knobs are located at the bottom of the body. The user does not need to strain their hands. Thanks to the smooth movement of the mechanism, the user can effortlessly focus on the object.
The microscope is operated with minimal hand movement, since the long stage control handle and fine focusing knob are located in the same working area.

Accessories
There is a line of accessories designed specifically for this microscope.
Optional objectives provide additional magnification.
Eyepieces extend the magnification range of the microscope. Optional eyepieces help you maximize the potential of the objective that you use most often.
The optional attachments for phase contrast, darkfield, polarization, and DIC expand the range of microscopy techniques, allowing you to study specimens that are invisible in brightfield.
A calibration slide is used to measure objects and can be combined with the eyepiece with a scale or with the camera software.
